Southern Living

Afternoon, lovelies!

I’ve been home sick today with a cold, yuck! Thankfully, feeling a bit better and thought I would share some of my favorite Southern Living homes. Being raised in Georgia, you know there was always at least a couple of copies of Southern Living on the coffee table at all times. Not only do they have delicious recipes and travel guides, their house plans are pretty cool too.

This first one is from the Farmhouse for Four Instagram page.

Just gahhhh. She is actually from Georgia, which is pretty darn cool! This home is a modified version of the Four Gables house plan.

Gotta say, I think she knocked it out of the park with her modifications! Y’all go check out her page. To say you will be inspired is an understatement. The inside is just as drool-worthy as the outside:

Next up is another Southern Living house plan, the Low Country Cottage. This photo is from the Southern Living Website detailing the house plans.

There was a brief period of time that the hubs and I were considering building a house. This puppy was my first choice of plans. It’s a small house with an amazing layout. So much potential! Check it out:

I love how open the living room is the to kitchen. And the obvious, a separate master suite with a connecting screen porch?! (***insert drooling Kali face***). Total square footage (including the upstairs) is about 2100 with 2 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. Small-ish, but a great use of space in my opinion.

This one is the White Plains plan which according to SL is a “twist on carpenter gothic”. It’s 2942 square feet, so a good bit larger than the Low Country Cottage. I love the steep pitch on the roof and the front porch. Kind of reminds me of a chapel.

And last but not least, ‘Mama Crovatt’s House’, a 2543 square foot stunner.

Wrap-around porches are just a must. And wouldn’t this look a bazillion times better with a tin roof?

If there are any good ones I have missed, leave them in the comments!

Favorite Things Friday

Hello lovelies!

It’s time for another Favorite Things Friday! I feel like we may need a theme song…

ANYWAY, let’s just jump right in, shall we?

Firstly, this gorgeous light fixture from Shades of Light.

It’s part of their Young House Love collection, so you know it’s good (Anchorman reference for you uncool people). And what makes it even better is it’s only $79! I’m thinking of getting 3 of these puppies to go in my second floor hallway to replace the boob lights. They are just too cute.

Next up is this adorable collection of prints from Belle Maison Art.

I mentioned them in a previous blog post about my spare bedroom design ideas (see Spare Bedroom Design Plan). I am a sucker for killer botanical prints and their stuff is top notch (and reasonably priced!).

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a big fan of the vino. Pinot Grigio and champagne are my favorites (are you taking notes?). So, of course, I fell in love with this adorable doormat from Dichotomat.

So stinkin’ cute. And only $34!

Last but certainly not least, we’re going with a classic: The Inspired Room by Melissa Michaels.

Not only is this a fabulous design resource, it’s darn cute as well.

Staircase Love

Sorry if I’m a bit distracted, but MY CAMERA ARRIVED! It is beautiful and amazing and I have no idea how to use it but I am SO GOSH DARN EXCITED! I wasn’t even expecting to get one any time soon, but the hubs is the cat’s pajamas and surprised me with a Nikon D3300. And a book on how to use it because I am clueless. He’s the bees knees, all right.

Any who, I thought I would share some cool staircases I’ve seen on the inter webs lately! My own staircase is quite boring and I am constantly trying to think of ways to spruce it up.

Let’s start off with a bang, shall we?

Amazing, amirite? It has everything: shiplap, metal railings, gorgeous wood tones. Love.

This next one is simple, but I love it. All clean white, and dat handrail!

I’m also really into stair runners such as this beauty:

I would love to get one of these bad boys on my stairs…but am a little gun-shy after the Great Rug Debacle of 2016 (see My dumbest mistake ever. for the full embarrassing tale).

But dang are they pretty.

This above shot is from a blog post on Young House Love where they give step by step instructions on how they DIY’ed this puppy.

This next one wouldn’t work with my staircase, but I love the idea of having a glass paneled door to block them off. Would be an especially pretty solution for a house with small kids or pets.

And finally, last but certainly not least, quite possibly the cutest little peekaboo stairs every seen. Yes, I just made up the term ‘peekaboo stairs’. What else would they be called?

Weekend Shenanigans

♫ Currently listening to: Sons & Daughters by Allman Brown

Happy Monday, lovelies!

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend! Our Saturday was mostly spent loafing around the house and enjoying some patio beers. Sunday, I drug Joshypoo over to the Cotton Pickin’ Fair in Gay, GA. It’s a cute little festival with homemade candles and soaps, art, and lots of fried food. Josh had what was quite possibly the largest corndog ever created by man. It was truly a work of art.

In addition to vats of fried deliciousness, there was also clogging to techno country music.

Only in Georgia.

We had a good time and I came away with a couple of cool do-dads. I got two handmade candles by Ivy Mist Candle Co out of Monroe, GA. These are in my favorite scents, lavender and honeysuckle.

My sweet in-laws also bought us the cutest little concrete fox for our yard! I would include a photo, but it’s dark outside and I don’t want the neighbors to think I’m a crazy lady outside taking photos of concrete foxes in the dark with pajamas on. I’m a weirdo, but I haven’t crossed that line just yet.

Besides that, the only new addition I have is the cutest little saddle blanket from Amazon to go over the back of my couch. I saw it originally on the Thoughts From Alice blog and fell in love. I’m definitely going to have to update my pillow situation. And wouldn’t this look so much better on a leather chesterfield? Dreaminggggg.

Also, big step for the blog! My sweet, sweet hubster surprised me by buying me a camera! It’s a fancy and amazing Nikon that I am so excited to learn how to use! I’m pumped to have some actual legit photos instead of these oh-so-great iPhone photos I’ve been sharing. I feel like a big girl blogger now!
